GRAND FORKS – The Grand Forks Foundation for Education has awarded a scholarship to a local elementary school teacher to pursue higher education this summer.

Jennifer Trader, a second grade teacher at Discovery Elementary School, is the recipient of this year’s UND Phi Delta Kappa Graduate Scholarship. The $866 scholarship will support her pursuit of a graduate degree in education at UND.

The Phi Delta Kappa Graduate Scholarship is intended to promote leadership potential, enhance leadership skills, and help deserving graduate-level students complete a master’s or special degree in education, according to Emilia Hodgson, executive director of the Grand Forks Foundation for Education.

Phi Delta Kappa, an association of educators dedicated to high-quality education for all students, has served more than 500,000 educators in communities across the U.S. and abroad.
