DECORATING your home isn’t always easy.
So it’s easy to understand why so many of us opt for the same boring trends we’ve seen on Instagram over and over again.
But according to interior designer Pandora Taylor, we should all steer clear of trends when it comes to our homes.
The 32-year-old told Metro.co.uk: “I hate doing things I’ve seen before.”
She continued: “‘You can’t avoid it completely but I like to harvest things from my 10 years in the design world, things that I might not use for clients, and I am drawn to objects that I’ve never seen before.
Although the pro does have an Instagram account, she revealed that she doesn’t follow the trends on there.
The interiors whizz explained that visiting stately homes with her mum as a child sparked a love for interesting designs.
She said: “In these homes I loved how you could be there for a while and suddenly see something incredible, or something subtle [in the background] like an old tapestry.”
Pandora has transformed her own home to have a similar style, with small treasures spread across the space.
“My style definitely is about pairing nods to traditional with contemporary pieces,” she explained.
“I love the bold patterns of the curtains and the overall look is definitely fresh and youthful with glamorous elements.”
Pandora’s style combines different elements that fuse together perfectly, for a timeless look that completely avoids trends.
Despite everything having a clear function, it also has to be beautiful, she confessed.
The clean Kardashian style of interiors might be trendy, but it isn’t exactly homely, and it definitely doesn’t reflect your personality.
The pro explained that finding a style that feels like your own is easier than you might think.
“Just do it,” she quipped.
“If you have a physical reaction to something you should go with it.
“The biggest thing I hate is worrying about prospective buyers.
“Life is too short – live in the house you love.”
